Reacher has been renewed for a fourth season at Prime Video, even though Season 3 won’t debut until next year.

The news comes a week after the streamer also revealed it had given a series order to a Reacher spinoff starring Maria Sten, reprising her fan-favorite character from the mothership, Frances Neagley.

An early Season 4 renewal is certainly a vote of confidence from Prime Video, which is to be expected considering that the series has become a hit. The second season was Amazon’s most-viewed 2023 release. Season 2 debuted on December 15 and, within three days, those episodes surpassed the Season 1 three-day audience by 50%.

Reacher has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season,“ said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “We are looking forward to more action and adventure from the immensely talented team behind the series including Nick Santora, Alan Ritchson, Lee Child, Skydance, and CBS Studios.”

Season 3, based on Persuader, the seventh book in Lee Child’s series, won’t debut until 2025. No word yet on an exact premiere date.

In the upcoming season, Reacher (Alan Ritchson) must go undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past.

Also returning for S3 are Sten Anthony Michael Hall, Sonya Cassidy, Brian Tee, Johnny Berchtold, Robert Montesinos, Daniel David Stewart and Olivier Richters.

Child also is an executive producer on the series from Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television and CBS Studios. Reacher is written for television by Nick Santora (FUBAR, Prison Break), who also executive produces and serves as showrunner.

In addition to Santora and Child, Ritchson will serve as an executive producer, along with Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, and David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance. Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid are the executives-in-charge of the series for Skydance Television.
