EXCLUSIVE: Reacher Season 2 has been crowned No. 1 at Amazon.

The first three episodes of the second season debuted on December 15 and quickly resonated with audiences. In fact, those episodes surpassed the entire Season 1 audience by 50% in the first three days on the streamer.

More from Deadline

Reacher is now the No. 1 title of the year for Prime Video in terms of total viewers across all series and films globally. Currently, the series is available in more than 180 countries.

Season 1 already seemed like a home run for Amazon, racking up 1.84B minutes viewed across all eight episodes in the U.S. (which were released all at once) during its premiere weekend in March 2022, according to Nielsen streaming data. Since Nielsen only measures domestically, that wouldn’t give an indication of how the series is performing internationally.

But this is the biggest premiere weekend that the streamer has had for any series since Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in September. It bodes well for the rest of the season, which is set to roll out weekly through January 19.

Nielsen figures for Season 2 will become available starting right in that window, so exact numbers for how this premiere weekend held up against Season 1 will have to wait about a month.

Season 2 is based on Bad Luck and Trouble, the 11th book in Lee Child’s series. It stars Alan Ritchson in the title role of Jack Reacher, with Maria Sten, Serinda Swan, and Shaun Sipos as key members of the 110th MP Special Investigations Unit.

Rounding out the cast are Ferdinand Kingsley as A.M., a mercenary that homeland security refers to as a “ghost;” Robert Patrick as Shane Langston, head of security for a private defense contractor with a questionable track record; and Domenick Lombardozzi as tough NYPD detective Guy Russo.

Season 2 currently has a 100% critics score and 84% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Reacher is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television, and Paramount Television Studios. Childs also serves as an executive producer along with Nick Santora, who wrote the series for TV and serves as showrunner. Additional executive producers are Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, and Adam Higgs, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance.
