What is the ‘Stranger Things’ Broadway show about?

The play, which has been running since December of 2023 on London’s West End, is a prequel story to the series we’ve come to love. It was written by Kate Trefry and was based on the story originally by Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of the Netflix hit, as well as Trefry and Jack Thorne.

The story that the play tells begins 24 years prior to the events of the Netflix series, in 1959. It features characters we’ve come to know and love, including Joyce (played in the series by Winona Ryder), Jim Hopper (David Harbour), Bob Newby (Sean Astin), Henry Creel, and new, original characters like Patty Newby, who is Bob’s sister.

According to the official site, the story takes us back to the days in which Hopper, Joyce and Bob are seniors in high school.

When will I be able to see ‘Stranger Things’ on Broadway?

The play, which is said to run for about 2 hours and 45 minutes, will make its debut in spring of 2025 at the Marquis Theatre. Previews of the show will start on March 28, with an official opening night taking place on April 22. Who will do the set design, costumes, etc. has yet to be announced.

For tickets to the show, visit Broadway.strangerthingsonstage.com. On the site, you have until September 12 at 11:59 p.m. to sign up for first access to tickets. Pre-sale will begin on September 13 at 11 a.m., with the general sale taking place on September 17.
