Roman Roy may have pre-grieved, but not Benji Kaplan.

On Wednesday, Searchlight Pictures dropped the full trailer for Jesse Eisenberg’s “A Real Pain.” Written and directed by and starring the Oscar nominee, the dramedy follows mismatched cousins David (Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin) as they tour Poland to honor their late grandmother. The pair try to navigate each other, their family history, long-simmering tensions, and their grief. As you can imagine, it does not go smoothly.

“I’ve just been in a real funk, I guess, since she died. Just haven’t, um…” Benji tells their tour group in the clip, trailing off.

The cast includes Will Sharpe (“The White Lotus”), Jennifer Grey (“Dirty Dancing”), Kurt Egyiawan (“Beasts of No Nation”), Liza Sadovy (“A Small Light”), and Daniel Oreskes (“Only Murders in the Building”). Eisenberg also serves as a producer, alongside Jennifer Semler, Ewa Puszczynska, and Fruit Tree trio Dave McCary, Ali Herting, and Emma Stone.

The film premiered to great acclaim and a standing ovation in January at the Sundance Film Festival, where Eisenberg won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. Searchlight quickly snapped up “A Real Pain” for $10 million and positioned it for an Oscar-friendly fall release.

At the moment, “A Real Pain” is predicted to score two nominations for Best Original Screenplay, where it’s third in the odds, and Best Supporting Actor for Culkin, who is in first place. This would be the first Oscar nomination for Culkin, who took home his maiden Emmy in January for “Succession.” A former Best Actor nominee for 2010’s “The Social Network,” Eisenberg is currently right outside of the top 10 in that category, as is “A Real Pain” itself in Best Picture.

“A Real Pain” will hit theaters Nov. 1.
