Dylan Minnette, who starred in '13 Reasons Why' and 'Scream,' is revealing the real reason why he decided to quit acting.

The actor is best known for his role as Clay Jensen in the popular Netflix series '13 Reasons Why,' but after the series wrapped and he filmed 'Scream,' he decided to step away from the Hollywood world.

Miinnette appeared on 'The Zach Sang Show' with his band, Wallows, where he admitted that he does "think about" getting back into acting.

"I was on '13 Reasons Why' and it was really popular and definitely reached a peak in — so far — of what I’ve had in acting. But it also started to feel like a bit of a job," he said of the Netflix show. "And I was in a very fortunate position where — it was always fun for me, always really inspiring."

"But then as soon as it was just starting to feel like just a job, I was like, well, I feel like Wallows and music is this passion that we have always had as a group to really take all the way, and as far as we can. And I feel like I’m in a position now where I can just kind of do that for a while and get this the farthest it can be," he added.

Two years after '13 Reasons Why' wrapped, Minnette appeared in Hulu's award-winning limited series 'The Dropout' and the fifth installment of 'Scream,' alongside Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera.

He said he knows he's "incredibly privileged and lucky to be in a position where it’s like, ‘This is starting to feel like a job, so I’m gonna do this now, and this’ll be my job.'"

"It’s insane, but it's working out that way, and I’m just following what feels inspiring," he added.

Minnette added that once his time with his band, Wallows, is finished, he may return to Hollywood.

"I do feel like I have something to give, and that’s probably acting," the actor said. "I feel like I’m starting to feel inspiration for that again. At some point, when we’ve fulfilled our Wallows duties and we’re all ready to take a break as a band, or just take a second, that’s when I’ll have the perfect inspiration to do something.”

After stepping back from acting, Minnette moved into the music industry with his band Wallows.

“We love things that are right but not,” Minnette said of his music. “Almost perfect, but not quite. I think that’s how we felt sometimes recording this - like we needed to please the label, people around us, fans."

"It’s easy to question yourself when you have all this material and all these things; you need to be this perfect representation of yourself, for whoever else," he added. "Then we just ended up being the best representation of ourselves.”

A few years ago, Dylan Minnette sat down with Variety, speaking out about the "negative" things said about the popular Netflix show, '13 Reasons Why.'

“What bothers me is that I noticed most of the people who had negative things to say, they didn’t see it. They would say, ‘I’m not going to watch this because this glorifies suicide.’ Well, how would you know unless you watched the season? You’re judging the series and what we’ve done based entirely off of something that you’ve heard or read,” Minnette told the outlet.

“I think anyone in their right mind would be able to watch and process what we did and put together the piece that we laid out and be able to see exactly why we did what we did, and know our real intentions, because everybody behind this had the greatest intentions and the best heart and cared so much about this," he added.

Katherine Langford, who portrays Hannah Baker in the show, also spoke out about the show. “We show Hannah’s suicide not to glorify it. We show the r-pe not to glorify it,” she told Variety. “It’s uncomfortable when you watch it. So we made decisions creatively, acting-wise and writing-wise, that contributed to us wanting to show this in a way that felt truthful and authentic. Personally, I don’t feel like it glorifies it at all. When I watch those scenes, I get a visceral response — it makes me sick, and it makes me sad.”
