The Real Reason Faith Feels Guilty On Young and Restless September 6
On the September 6 episode of The Young and the Restless, Faith apologized to Nick for all the trouble and worry she’s caused her family. She drove drunk and crashed. She needed a new kidney. She got kidnapped. She crashed her car again…sober, this time. Nick pointed out that only the first one was her fault. The rest was just bad luck. But is Faith truly feeling guilty, or is something else in play here? We put Faith Newman on the couch to dive deeply into her banged-up psyche.
Difficult Childhood
Faith (Reylynn Caster) might not consciously remember Adam (Mark Grossman) kidnapping her as a baby and passing Sharon’s (Sharon Case) newborn off as Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson). But she had to have been traumatized by the game of Pass the Infant.
Then, she was upset to learn about the kidnapping years later. That’s when she drank, drove, crashed, and needed a new kidney from that same Adam. That might be enough trauma to last anyone a lifetime. But, in Genoa City, that was just a warm-up.

Bad Guy Bingo
Getting kidnapped by Cameron (Linden Ashby — here’s what you should know) wasn’t Faith’s fault. Nick (Joshua Morrow) was right about that. And she really was only trying to help Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Briant) when this last accident happened.
But Faith insisting on blaming herself for them did make us wonder: What kind of lesson has Faith learned from being a Newman? Not any particularly good ones.
Sick and Loved
The Newmans are always fighting each other. Someone is always not speaking to someone else. Victor (Eric Braeden — who urged fans to do this) is always firing an allegedly beloved relative or doing something so awful that said allegedly beloved relative quits in a huff. Nick has done it a bunch of times. So has Victoria (Amelia Heinle). And Adam. Even Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) has turned on her darling Victor once in a while.
So what brought them back into the family fold? Some kind of medical emergency. Nick forgave Victor when he had a heart attack. Victor forgave Victoria when she got stabbed. Faith’s kidney crises bought Adam a modicum of forgiveness.
In other words, Faith has learned that being a Newman means you are only loved when you are in a medical crisis. And the forgiveness only comes when you keep reminding people of it, which is why she is happy to take the blame for all her hardships. Crisis is the only way to get your family to remember you exist. And the only time they ever prove you’re loved.
