Reneé Rapp shares her honest thoughts about dating apps

There's one place you won't find Reneé Rapp, and that's on a dating app.

The singer and “Mean Girls” musical star told actor Rachel Sennott on the new episode of the “Close Friends Only With Instagram“ podcast that she’s “never done a dating app” and that they terrify her.

“It scares the s--- out of me,” Rapp said. “For some reason, I was never like, ‘Oh, that’s something I could do.’... I think of just Christian Mingle. I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s for elderly Christians. I’m not that.’”

Rapp, who said she’s “not a small talk gal,” agreed with Sennott on not knowing if you’re attracted to someone until you meet in person. “Based off of experience, there’s no way to tell (if you’re interested) from a photo... or a video or like a long video,” Rapp said. “You might think that you’re really attracted to someone and you’re just not.”

Sennott said that dating apps, for her, are for people looking to “find love.”

“It’s so vulnerable, (whereas) on Instagram, you always have that out of, I just liked your photo,” the “Bottoms” actor said, sharing that when she flirts on Instagram she’s “giving nothing.”

“I’m giving a follow and, like, one like,” she said. “And that’s like as much as it’s gonna go and then I’m like, ‘That was your T-up.’ So DM. But I feel like a follow feels pretty direct to me.”

Elsewhere in their conversation, Rapp confirmed that she's working on a new album. While she couldn't share details about her sophomore album, she did share what has inspired her.

“(Age) 23 to 24 has been a massive difference for me,” she explained. “It’s also about a reflection on my 23rd year specifically.”

While appearing on TODAY in January, Rapp spoke about her new music and recalled working with Megan Thee Stallion on “Not My Fault” for the “Mean Girls” musical soundtrack.

“We just started talking about it and she was just like, ‘Oh, no, absolutely,’” Rapp recalled, saying that the rapper gave her “an immediate yes” to collaborating. “Which was really exciting for me because I’m such a big fan of hers and she’s iconic. She’s also one of the hottest people I’ve ever seen in my life.”
