Renegade Nell Cancelled at Disney+

It’s one and done for Renegade Nell. Disney+ has cancelled the UK drama after a single season.

“Disney+ Original series, Renegade Nell, will not be returning for a second season on the service,” a Disney+ spokesperson confirmed in a statement to Deadline. “We’re incredibly proud of the world created by Sally Wainwright and lead director Ben Taylor. We’d like to thank them, our production partners at Lookout Point, the entire cast – led by Louisa Harland – and crew for their incredible work on this series, all of whom we hope to work with again in the future.”

Derry Girls’ Harland led the series as the aforementioned Renegade Nell Jackson, “a quick-witted and courageous young woman finds herself framed for murder and unexpectedly becomes the most notorious outlaw in 18th Century England,” according to the official logline. “But when a magical spirit called Billy Blind (played by Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed) appears, Nell realizes her destiny is bigger than she ever imagined.”

All nine episodes dropped March 29.

In addition to Harland and Mohammed, the ensemble included Joely Richardson as Lady Eularia Moggerhanger, Adrian Lester as Robert Hennessey, Craig Parkinson as Sam Trotter, Florence Keen as George Trotter, Frank Dillane as Charles Devereux, Alice Kremelberg as Sofia Wilmot, Jake Dunn as Thomas Blancheford, Pip Torrens as Lord Blancheford, Bo Bragason as Roxy Trotter, Jodhi May as Queen Anne; Iz Hesketh as Valerian, Ashna Rabheru as Polly Honeycombe, and Enyi Okoronkwo as Rasselas.
