REO Speedwagon Retires from Touring, Kate Middleton Returns to Royal Duties, WNBA Expands to Portland, National Cheeseburger Day
REO Speedwagon announces retirement from touring due to 'irreconcilable differences' between Bruce Hall and Kevin Cronin. The band announced their departure from the stage in a social media statement on Monday shortly following the conclusion of their summer tour with Train where bassist Bruce Hall was notably absent due to recovery from back surgery. Frontman Kevin Cronin also missed his fair share of performances due to undisclosed health issues of his own over the last month. The statement addresses the absence of both band members claiming that it was neither of their intentions to step away long term, but due to recent differences they feel it is in their best interest to call it quits. They write, 'Neal, Kevin, and Bruce thank their fans for all their years of loyal support and for giving back to the band such wonderful memories that will remain with each of them forever.' Kate Middleton makes official return to royal duties following completion of cancer treatment. The Princess of Wales reportedly attended her first official royal meeting on Tuesday at Windsor Castle since being diagnosed with cancer. The news comes just one week after she announced her completion of chemotherapy. While no details of the meeting have been disclosed to the public, it is a step in the right direction for Princess Kate, who just last week announced that she would only be returning to a 'light program' of her duties with the royal family until further notice. WNBA announces franchise expansion, bringing additional 15th team to Portland starting in 2026. The WNBA announced the expansion on Wednesday morning revealing that they will return to the city for the first time since the Portland Fire was disbanded in 2002. Portland was previously in discussion to home the league's 14th team, but was later deferred and the bid went to Toronto. The team will begin playing in 2026 at the Moda Center, which is also home to the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers. National Cheeseburger Day is celebrated.
