Although this popular Volusia doughnut shop is closing its Ormond Beach location, its sweet selections are sticking around.

Donnie’s Donuts announced on social media earlier this week that it would be "consolidating" its homemade offerings by closing the doors to its 200 E. Granada Blvd. eatery in Ormond Beach, but maintaining its Daytona Beach business.

After seven years in Ormond Beach, Donnie's Donuts owners Patti and Donald Summerlin thanked the community for its endless support, but noted in a Facebook post that they would not be renewing their beachside lease.

“We are heartbroken we can’t continue here but too many obstacles to continue. Unable to get proper business insurance and insuring our employees when disasters strike are deal breakers for us,” Donnie’s Donuts said in the post.

“Our lease is up and we are not able to move forward renewing our lease here. We appreciate each and every one of our customers and hope you will continue to support us and our fabulous team, lead (sic) by Kallie Mosier, our manager, in our Daytona Beach location.”

The eatery’s loyal community of doughnut-lovers expressed their devastation surrounding the news through a plethora of disappointed yet supportive comments flooding the shop’s social media pages.

“As sad as I am to see this, I pledge to make the trek from Ormond Beach to your Daytona Beach location. It’s not that far and for the best donuts ever, its (sic) worth it,” one Facebook user said, while another commented, “Love your donuts. I will follow you anywhere! Best of luck!”

Donnie’s Donuts first opened in Daytona Beach in 2015, and soon expanded to Ormond Beach and New Smyrna Beach — a location that closed its doors in 2022 following "Hurricane Ian and multiple other factors" out of the shop's control.

The beloved shop is known for its highly praised, made-fresh-daily donuts, as well as its scratch-made hot chocolate, coffee, tea and more. The eatery offers vintage cake doughnuts, "served plain or rolled in our GMO-free organic sugar or cinnamon sugar," and modern "handcrafted artisan doughnuts" that can be customized at the shop's "Donut Bar," where an array of frostings, drizzles and toppings are available.

The gourmet doughnut shop’s remaining Volusia location sits within the One Daytona complex across from the speedway at 225 Daytona Blvd. in Daytona Beach and is open 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Sunday – Thursday and 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Donnie’s Donuts’ Atlanta location, which opened in December, is located at 701 Highland Ave. NE, suites 4 - 5, in Atlanta. Both locations plan to have delivery and online ordering available by next week.
