Revisiting Prince’s Love of Boots Over the Years
More from Footwear News
Prince was a one-of-a-kind artist with a signature style that can’t be replicated. When it came to shoes, the iconic performer was a devoted fan of boots, hitting the stage and the red carpet in different custom high-heel styles that complemented his outfits. The “When Doves Cry” singer was always sporting high-heeled boots in a range of colors, prints and materials. An exhibit, “The Beautiful Collection: Prince’s Custom Shoes,” was held at his former Paisley Park home in Chanhassen, Minnesota in 2021.
In celebration of Prince’s birthday on June 7, check out some of his most noteworthy shoe moments throughout his career.
In one of his last public appearances at the 2015 Grammy Awards, the “Little Red Corvette” hitmaker donned a shimmery peach ensemble complete with matching boots boasting a classic almond toe.
Similarly, Prince coordinated his silky, golden-yellow ensemble boasting a patterned trim with heeled boots at the Apollo Theater’s 75th Anniversary Gala in New York City in 2009.
For the release party of his album “Musicology” in 2004, the “Raspberry Beret” singer paired a bold red suit with boots in the same vibrant hue and even wore fiery shades. He wore a pointed-toe style with rounded tips.
At the launch of VH1 in 1994, Prince styled a bright white outfit with chalky boots that seamlessly tied the angelic look together. True to form, he accessorized with trendy sunglasses, a chunky gold necklace and a gold-accented cane.
Again, Prince harmonizes his shoes with his look. Here, he performs in 1984 wearing a white sheer lace shirt and burgundy pants covered in sequins. On foot, his boots are done in the same color and shimmery material as his bottoms.
