RHONY: Ubah's Had Enough of the 'Angry Black Woman' Narrative as Erin Claims She's 'Scared to be Friends'
"You’re pushing me to the ground. What do you want from me?" Erin told Ubah before bursting into tears on Sunday's episode of 'The Real Housewives of New York City'
Tears were shed and accusations flew on The Real Housewives of New York City.
On Sunday’s episode of the Bravo series, tension between Ubah Hassan and Erin Dana Lichy began to boil over. Kicking off where the drama left off, Ubah refused to return Erin’s sunglasses after taking them off her head as they headed to a beach bar during their girls trip to Anguilla.
The former supermodel, 40, revealed that she would wait 45 minutes to return the glasses after the real estate professional, 36, took her phone the night before as payback for throwing her in the pool.
As Ubah exited the room, Erin said that her behavior was “not okay” and claimed that their explosive confrontation had ruined her “last day” on the trip while growing increasingly emotional.
“I mean, this girl is my friend,” she said in a conversation with cameras. “This is the first conflict I've ever had with her and it's the worst conflict I've ever had in my life. Like, I have no idea what's going on with her and I didn't even know she had this side.”
Once the group made it to the bar, the awkward tension was cut when Ubah’s 45 minute timer went off and she proceeded to return Erin’s glasses.
“Instead of getting so mad, talk to me like a normal friend,” Erin said, while Ubah retorted. “Don't tell me what to do, I’m not a kid.”
As the ladies observed the confrontation in silence, Brynn Whitfield attempted to diffuse the situation by reminding the pair that they were close friends.

When Erin brought up how Ubah once called her a “spoiled brat,” she refused to take back the name-calling and claimed Erin “abused” Brynn, informing her that she’s called her a “social climber” behind her back.
The news came as a shock to Brynn, and Ubah continued to call Erin out for talking behind her friend’s back and showering them with love the second after. Things proved to be too much for Erin, who claimed she was heading back to the villa early. Jenna Lyons followed her out of the bar, though they eventually returned but reconvened at the other side of the establishment to avoid the rest of the ladies.
After finishing their drinks, the ladies joined in on a nearby game of limbo. Jenna and Erin watched the group laughing and playing in the sand, and when Erin realized no one was following to check in on her, she claimed, “I really have no respect for any of them anymore.”

The group then headed to another restaurant to grab lunch. Before Erin joined the table, Ubah, Brynn, Jenna, Sai de Silva and Jessel Taank vocalized their thoughts on how to resolve the situation.
While discussing the problem, Jessel pointed out how Erin often “talked s—” about each housewife and recalled how she singled out Jenna and claimed she chose to fly early in order to avoid economy class.
“Now that everything’s coming to the surface, I’m starting to realize who’s driving all this stuff?” Jessel said in a confessional interview. “Enough is enough.”
Erin and Ubah came to odds once again when Ubah asked why she was “putting a fork in my ass” and messing with her. Claiming she needed to “get off this rollercoaster,” Erin announced she was leaving lunch and heading back to the villa.
“I literally cannot be near her. The things that she said about me? She will not stop talking about me,” she told Sai before walking out of the establishment.
After Erin made her second exit, the ladies confronted Ubah about her negativity, which prompted her to point out how Erin’s victimization was painting her with the “angry black woman” stereotype.
“I am so done with this narrative [that] black women are angry,” she breathed. “We are passionate and we don't take any s—- and we're not fake.”
“Ubah’s right. When Black women get upset, people take it upon themselves to think that it's this ‘angry black woman’ mentality when you're just showing emotion just like every other woman,” Sai confessed to the cameras, though she added, “However, I just don't think it plays out in to this situation.”

The housewives eventually returned to their villa and Erin pulled Ubah aside for a conversation to resolve their issues. She began the conversation by telling Ubah that her comments hit especially close to home “because I actually love you.”
The duo began explaining their respective perspectives on how the situation had gone down. Despite the step to understand each other, their conversation grew more and more heated as Erin confessed, “I can’t look at you the same, I’ve never talked to you like that.”
Ubah attempted to explain that her proximity to her phone was important because of her family’s expectations of communication. She previously revealed that she had a promise to her loved ones to check in every so often as a woman who frequently travels the world alone.
When she tried to show Erin proof of why she was so possessive of her device, she couldn’t find her phone. Ubah began looking for it and asked if they could press pause on their conversation, which didn’t sit right with Erin. Unable to come to an agreement, Ubah suggested they just forgo their conversation and move on without clearing the air.
She later joined the rest of the ladies in the hot tub where Brynn brought up her grievances with Erin, who conveniently walked in. Brynn claimed Erin once accused her of flirting with her husband, and pointed out that the claims were very harmful to her “integrity.”
Despite the fact the pair resolved the issue weeks ago, Brynn admitted to cameras, “As I'm in this hot tub time machine I'm starting to like swirl a little bit, and realizing that these accusations, as much as I keep wanting to overlook them as my friend — it's really reckless.”
“There's no accountability. She doesn't hold herself accountable [and] I know we don't hold her accountable,” she added.
“Why are you bringing this up now?” Erin demanded, pointing to Ubah. “Because she’s riling you up?”
As Ubah began denying claims that she was inciting hate, Erin screamed, “Shut up! Shut your f---ing mouth! You are such a b----!”
“No, you are a b----!” Ubah fired back. “And guess what? It’s coming to you.” She then noted that each person in the hot tub had a reason to be mad at her for talking behind their backs.
When Brynn began questioning why Erin was having such a visceral reaction over whether Ubah’s claims she was a liar were false, she stated that she had gone “too far” as Ubah was “abusing her.”
“You’re pushing me to the ground,” Erin said before bursting into tears. “What do you want from me? I didn’t f---ing — Like I took your phone as a joke. You tried to get everyone against me… It’s enough.”
“I think Erin’s a f---ing liar for sure, but I think she’s like breaking down and I don’t want her to break down,” Brynn whispered to Jessel.
Ubah softened her stance as she saw Erin break and gave her a hug. “It’s enough,” Erin cried. “What are you doing to me?”
The duo tried for the third and last time to resolve their issues in a private conversation. Erin told Ubah that her comments “really hurt” and confessed she was “scared to be friends with you.”
As the pair had an honest talk about their feelings, they finally came to a resolution once they both admitted their faults. Though Ubah confessed Erin wasn’t a liar, she pressed her to admit that she “talks s—” about the rest of the women.
