How RHOP Season 8 Is Disappointing Fans
The Real Housewives of Potomac has always been a dynamic series with vibrant women who were never too scared to face off with one another. As RHOP Season 8 approached, viewers were excited to see what the East Coast ladies had been up to. Unfortunately, to their surprise, this newest installment has been quite boring, and I’d like an explanation. Season 8 started back in November, and instead of being the exciting holiday gift we thought it would be, it has turned out to be a boring block of coal. Here’s why RHOP Season 8 is disappointing fans.
RHOP Is a Snooze Fest
Sadly, I think viewers are starting to notice that the Real Housewives of Potomac hasn’t been fun for a while. The show and ladies have become uncomfortable to watch, and it feels more like a group of mean girls than true friends. This season feels like me after Thanksgiving, bloated. RHOP Season 8 is trying to cram everything, including the kitchen sink, into it. And yet, there is still nothing of substance to watch.
Some of the OGs have become complacent, and the season seems to be getting away from them as if they are already in the nursing home, just meandering around hoping for a conversation starter. The newbies don’t have chemistry, and it’s like forcing square dancing on middle school kids—nobody wants to engage. When they are filming together, I can’t help but feel most of these women are just clocking in for their job and are counting down the minutes before they can call it a day.
Nneka vs Wendy
Nneka Ihim is new to the franchise, but her storyline revolves around her accusing Wendy Osefo‘s mother of building an evil shrine and harming her with voodoo. The premise of the Nigerian curse doesn’t add up since it doesn’t even seem that the two ladies ran in the same circle. Nneka is grasping at straws with this one. The direction and plot are uncomfortable, especially since the storyline was thrown out there and not followed up on.
There have also been multiple storylines revolving around Wendy and her family; honestly, I’m bored. Give us something else, girl. The worst part of the entire interaction is that the group continues to single out Wendy, and it really feels like a pack of lions circling a sad water buffalo. Enough is enough.
??Where Are the Storylines?
It’s not just Wendy and Nneka struggling to hold onto any form of a plot; it is actually the entire cast. I mean, what is Ashley Darby even doing? I think she bought a house with her ex-husband and decorated it like the beach. Who knows, honestly? Karen Huger—again, how many times have viewers heard about her partnership in Surry County? Gizelle Bryant is starting her empty nest syndrome. Again, I don’t care.
The best storyline is Robyn Dixon, but honestly, I’m over her marriage drama. If she wants a cheating husband so bad, keep him. Who am I to stand in her way?
Viewers Miss the OG Ladies
It hasn’t gone unnoticed that there is a big hole in the RHOP Season 8 cast without stars like Katie Rost or Monique Samuels. Some fans, including myself, are questioning if we need some new housewives who are actually rich and fabulous. (I said fabulous, just like Milania Giudice, if anyone needed help with the reference.) It has become abundantly clear that Bravo needs to drop a cast member or two and rethink their approach.
Katie and Monique added a badass angle that showed neither cared about how they were received within the group. There is something to be said about that approach as it allows the housewife to show their true colors instead of trying to fit a mold of what they think their costars want to see. I’d happily have Monique back over Candiace Dillard Bassett any day. I really hate that stupid triangle corner.
TELL US – DO YOU THINK RHOP SEASON 8 IS DISAPPOINTING? IS THERE ANYTHING THAT COULD SALVAGE THE SEASON?
