Richard Gere lists Pound Ridge estate for sale for $28M
Richard Gere is moving.
Through a trust, the actor has listed a property at 81 Lyndel Road in Pound Ridge for $28 million.
Muffin Dowdle of Ginnel Realty is the listing agent for the property.
The 50-acre spread has lots of attributes, starting with privacy. According to the listing, it is "buffered from the outside world by over 4,300-acres of protected land." It includes a lake with its own island and beach, which has a covered terrace with a stone fireplace; a stable; large kitchen garden; pool; and a soccer field (great for Gere's three kids, who include his son with ex-wife Carey Lowell and two toddlers with wife Alejandra Silva).

The nearly 12,000-square-foot, 8-bedroom, 8-bathroom house was built in 2000. Gere bought the property in 1986 according to Westchester County property records.
Photos from the listing show a rustic but contemporary stone and shingle home that utilizes lots of organic material, with coffered ceilings, wide plank wood floors and natural wood millwork and large windows throughout.
In a 2011 article in Travel & Leisure, Gere extolled the virtues of the property, saying:" I hate to say this, but we can walk around our house naked and it doesn’t matter. No one can see us. It’s quiet and very natural, and the seasons are distinct."
Gere, known for roles in "Pretty Woman," Internal Affairs," "The Three Christs," and on Broadway in "Chicago," has been a presence in the county since 1986 when he purchased property in Pound Ridge, according to Westchester County property records.
In 2008, he opened the Bedford Post Inn with his Lowell. The couple bought the property in 2006, and renovated what had been described as an abandoned house, turning it into a well-known cafe, yoga studio and inn, eventually adding a restaurant. Lowell and Gere divorced in 2016 and Gere remarried in 2018. He and Silva recently welcomed their second child.
