Rick Ross, Jidenna & Desiigner Don’t Think Snoop Dogg Should Apologize to Donald Trump for ‘Lavender’ Video

President Donald Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen may think Snoop Dogg owes the POTUS an apology over his “Lavender” music video, but plenty of musicians feel otherwise, including Rick Ross, Jidenna and Desiigner.

Speaking with Billboard at South by Southwest, the hip-hop stars discussed tha Doggfather’s latest controversy, giving props for the visual that shows Snoop pointing and firing a fake gun at a clown version of Trump.

“I thought it was bold, I thought it was audacious, I thought it made a very, very clear statement,” said Jidenna. “There’s a funky revolution that needs to go on and that’s how the song feels. [Snoop Dogg]’s very clear that he represents the people that have been marginalized, the people who have been cast aside, and he wants to get rid of the clowns in government.”

Ross meanwhile supported Snoop’s First Amendment rights.

“I think it’s dope any time that you can exercise your right and speak your mind,” said Ross. “Speak your mind at all times, so whatever Snoop says, believe that.”

And newcomer Desiigner was most excited to announce he lost his phone last night partying with Snoop.

When Jidenna was specifically about whether Snoop should apologize to Trump, he deferred to the hip-hop icon.

“It’ll be up to him. He’s his own man, he’s his own artist, he’s his own chief, I’m sure he knows better than me,” he said. “You’ve got to be easy when you make moves like that and he’s a very wise dude and I really love that dude sincerely, he’s a mentor to me and a lot of people in our generation.”
