Ricky Martin, Jwan Yosef are getting a divorce 'with love, respect and dignity'
Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef are getting a divorce after six years of marriage.
"For some time, we have considered transforming our relationship, and it is after careful consideration that we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years," the couple said in a joint statement shared on Instagram Thursday.
Martin, 51, and Yosef, 38, added: "Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue the joint upbringing of our children, preserving the respect and love we have for each other."
"As always, we thank you for all the love and support we received throughout our marriage. We are united in nurturing this new chapter of our lives," they concluded.
The "Livin' La Vida Loca" singer and the Syrian-Swedish artist share daughter Lucia, 4, and son Renn, 3. Martin is also a father to twin sons Matteo and Valentino, who will turn 15 in August and were born via surrogate. He plans to raise the twins as a single parent, according to People.
Martin and Yosef were married at the end of 2017. In January 2018, he told E! News, "I'm a husband, but we're doing a heavy party in a couple of months."
"We've exchanged vows, and we swear everything, and we signed all the papers that we needed to sign — prenups and everything," Martin continued.

The Puerto Rican superstar revealed he had popped the question during an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in 2016.
“I was really nervous,” Martin said of the proposal, “but I got on my knees, and I took out the little metal box. I just had it in a little velvet pouch. And instead of saying, ‘Would you marry me?’ I said, 'I got you something!' Bad! And then he was like, ‘Yes?’ I said, ‘I want to spend my life with you,’ and he was like, ‘What is the question?’ (I said) ‘Would you marry me?’ That’s it.’”
