'Riverdale' star Lili Reinhart apologizes for 'tone deaf' Breonna Taylor post

Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart has apologized after posting a racy photo to tease a serious message about the death of Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old woman killed on March 13 by police in her Louisville, Ky., apartment.

Earlier, Reinhart had shared a photo of herself posing topless on the beach, with the caption, “Now that my sideboob has gotten your attention, Breonna Taylor’s murderers have not been arrested. Demand justice.”

She was quickly called out for trivializing the issue. Within a few hours, Reinhart said she had made a mistake. “It was never my intent to insult anyone and I’m truly sorry to those that were offended.”

Reinhart insisted that she’s always tried to use her platform — for starters, the TV star has 3.1 million followers on Instagram — for good. However, she said she understood that, even though she had good intentions, her caption came off as “insensitive” and “tone deaf.”

The Hustlers actress has featured the Black Lives Matter movement on her social media pages before. For instance, on June 2, she called for recommendations for influencers and activists from the Black community that she should reach out to. She wanted to temporarily hand over her platform to them through live conversations on Instagram, and she’s now had several.

On June 3, Reinhart revealed on social media that she was a “proud bisexual woman,” who planned to join an LGBTQ+ for Black Lives Matter protest in West Hollywood, Calif.
