'Riverdale' meets 'Peanuts' in Jimmy Fallon's surprisingly perfect parody
On The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon mashed together the CW’s hit show Riverdale with another popular comic strip, Peanuts, into one great parody.
It was basically the very first episode of Riverdale, but with the Peanuts characters we know and love. Instead of Archie and the gang, the sketch starred Charlie Brown and his friends as they tried to uncover the mystery surrounding the death of Linus. Fallon, as Charlie Brown, narrated the sketch, explaining “Peppermint Patty and Marcie had gone to the pumpkin patch to wait for the great pumpkin. But what they found was Linus van Pelt, cold, alone, and anything but great.”
Overall, the parody was actually pretty accurate down to the moody tones, music, production design, and script, which also included Riverdale Season 1’s secret love affair with a teacher. However, this teacher spoke in classic “mwa-mwa-mwa”.
There were some fun guest cameo appearances made by Questlove from the Roots, who played Franklin, and the cast of Riverdale themselves, as they watched Fallon getting down with some classic Charlie Brown dance moves.
