Rob Kardashian 'can no longer afford' $20K a month in child support, wants Blac Chyna to pay him instead
Rob Kardashian is going through financial hardship — according to Rob Kardashian. The (sometimes) television personality filed documents seeking to lower child support payments to Blac Chyna, according to multiple reports. The formerly engaged couple share 2-year-old daughter, Dream.
In documents obtained by the Blast, Kardashian, 31, says he “can no longer afford” paying Chyna $20,000 a month. He believes she should be the one writing checks. Kardashian says he has missed out on work opportunities due to the domestic violence restraining order Chyna was granted in July 2017. Chyna dropped the domestic abuse case two months later and the pair reached a custody agreement.
“I have not participated in the filming of any episodes [of Keeping Up With the Kardashians] since this summer when [Chyna] filed a request for a restraining order against me. Her request was widely publicized and I was scrutinized by the media,” he says in a declaration.
“It has been an extraordinarily difficult time for me emotionally and I have no desire to continue participating in the reality show,” he says. Kardashian used to receive a minimum of $1 million annual salary for filming the E! show; however, starting in 2018, he was compensated only for episodes he appeared in, at a reduced rate of $50,000 per episode. His appearances are extremely limited.
“I would like to maintain my privacy, try to recover from the emotional damage of the past several months and explore other business ventures,” Kardashian says.
According to financial records, Chyna is worth $1.4 million, raking in about $60,000 per month. Kardashian’s legal team believes she should be paying him $2,864 for joint custody of Dream. He says he is making less than $10,000 per month, a number significantly lower than the $100,000-per-month figure he had at the time of their split.
“We believe Rob Kardashian has deliberately retreated from social media to reduce his income so that he can pay less child support,” Chyna’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom, tells Yahoo Entertainment. “Poor little rich boy. What kind of father doesn’t want to support his own baby?”
Bloom continued: “Rob and Kris Jenner have also been dodging their depositions. They can run, but they can’t hide. Like all other litigants and witnesses, eventually they will have to show up and answer questions about where all of Rob’s money has gone. We’ll get a court order requiring them to come to my office and answer questions, under oath if necessary. In the meantime, Blac Chyna continues to work hard as a single mother supporting her children, as she has always done, whether Rob chooses to help or not.”
A judge suspended all child support obligations earlier this year and a hearing has been set for December to determine what will happen moving forward.
