Rob Milton and Tahjere connect for "More Fire" single
On Friday (Sept. 29), Rob Milton dropped off a new single titled “More Fire,” a collaboration with Tahjere. Over soulful production provided by Dana Johnson, the two sang about passionate Black love with a special someone. “Would you believe me if I said I found the softest place on Earth here with you, there’s just something so magnetic about us, too, the stars align when we lock our eyes, it’s true,” Milton crooned on the airy effort.
“R&B duets raised me, from [Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack] to Faith and Carl Thomas,” the Virginia talent said in an Instagram post about the song. “I’m honored to continue the tradition and R&B legacy today with my dear friend, Tahjere! Our new song, ‘More Fire,’ is out now and will be the soundtrack to your fall season.”
“More Fire” follows Milton’s May EP, Wish U Well, which boasted four dope cuts and a single assist from Danni Cassette. He also treated fans to 2023 drops like “Friends” with Cousin and Kreion, “Wake And Bake” with Peter $un, “Mean A Thing” with Micah Robinson, and “Head Up Song.”
In an interview with “Givin’ Up The Tapes,” Milton — who’s also a decorated songwriter for some of your favorite artists — spoke on the music that entered his life during his upbringing.
“My family has always played a little bit of everything. My mom played everything from Mary J. Blige, Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, the incredible millennium gospel era and ’90s R&B,” he explained. “Then I would go to my aunt’s house and she had a lot of records. A lot of my interests in older funk music and stuff like that came from spending time with my aunt. I grew up in a church home, but I was allowed to listen to everything.”
