Robert Pulcini & Shari Springer Berman Tapped To Direct First Two Episodes Of Netflix’s ‘The Four Seasons’
EXCLUSIVE: Academy Award-nominated filmmakers Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman (Succession) have been tapped to helm the first two episodes of The Four Seasons, Netflix’s new comedy series based on the same-name 1981 film, from Tina Fey, Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield.
As previously announced, Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Erika Henningsen and Will Forte will star. While a logline for the series hasn’t been provided, the film The Four Seasons follows three couples who vacation together every season, only to see their worlds upended when one of them divorces. Alan Alda directed from his script and starred opposite Carol Burnett, with Martin Bregman producing.

Hailing from Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Fey’s production company Little Stranger, Inc., The Four Seasons will be exec produced by Fey, Fisher, Wigfield, David Miner, Eric Gurian and Jeff Richmond. Alda and Marissa Bregman will produce, with Fey, Fisher and Wigfield writing the scripts. The series is slated to begin production later this year.
Oscar-nominated for their screenplay to their 2004 dramedy American Splendor, starring Paul Giamatti as comic book writer Harvey Pekar, Berman and Pulcini have also helmed features including Netflix’s horror hit Things Heard & Seen, the dramedy Ten Thousand Saints, the Kristen Wiig comedy Girl Most Likely, the Emmy-winning Diane Lane-Tim Robbins drama Cinema Verite for HBO, the Kevin Kline comedy The Extra Man, The Nanny Diaries starring Scarlett Johansson, and more.
In television, the duo most recently directed three episodes of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building Season 3, prior to that earning a pair of DGA Award nominations for their work on Succession. Directing and exec producing four of eight episodes of FX on Hulu’s acclaimed limited series Fleishman Is in Trouble from Taffy Brodesser-Akner, the pair have also previously worked on WeCrashed and Shameless.
Berman and Pulcini are represented by CAA, Anonymous Content and Paul Brennan at 3B Law.
