Rock Hall celebrates Billy Joel, Rod Stewart concert with all-day tailgate
CLEVELAND (WJW) – It’s not every day that a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee performs just steps away from the Rock Hall at Huntington Bank Field.
Friday is an extra special event because not one, but two inductees are performing with the Billy Joel and Rod Stewart concert.
Rod Stewart happens to be a two-time inductee.

With that, the Rock Hall hosted an all-day tailgate with food trucks outside of their entrance, and songs from both artists playing through their outdoor speakers.
They even extended their hours until 7 p.m. Friday to lead right up to the start of the concert.
“When you’ve got rock and roll royalty downtown in Cleveland and you’ve got 60,000 fans packing Browns stadium tonight, we are a great place to dig a little deeper, learn the stories, but also celebrate with each other,” John Goehrke said.
Goehrke is the director of guest experience at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
He told FOX 8 they have several special artifacts from Rod Stewart and Billy Joel that are new displays that will stick around through Saturday. Plus, they have video highlights of their careers playing in the lower level of the Rock Hall.
The concert drew fans from all over to come see the two rock and roll legends in Cleveland.
One trio of siblings from Boston attended the tailgate at the Rock Hall. They told Fox 8 they had to be here to see the two do this show together.

“We’re big fans of both of them and when we heard they were going to do a dual show… I got the tickets,” Nancy Coletti said.
She and her brother and sister are spending the weekend in Cleveland. They’re checking out the Rock Hall, going to the concert on Friday night, going to the Guardians game on Saturday night and will also travel down to Canton to check out the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
