'Rockbottom,' starring Jon Bon Jovi son Jake Bongiovi, now available to stream
Are you ready to “Rockbottom”?
Starring Jon Bon Jovi's son Jake Bongiovi, "Rockbottom" is available to stream now on Amazon Prime. The movie tells the story of a fictional '80s hair metal band called CougarSnake that needs a new lead singer before they reunite.
Bongiovi's character has potential, but he has a problem: stage fright.
“The film is a rollicking family comedy that chronicles the hilarious misadventures of a failed '80s hair metal band as they attempt to reunite in the present day for one last electrifying performance,” according to a “Rockbottom” press notice.
Todd Tucker (“The Terror of Hallow’s Eve”) is the writer and director (he's also in the cast). Tom Everett Scott (Tom Hank's “That Thing You Do”) is a co-star, and Mckaley Miller (CW's “Hart of Dixie” and FOX's “Scream Queens”), Toshi Yanagi (“Jimmy Kimmel Live” house band) and social media influencer Teala Dunn are also in the movie.
“Rockbottom” is Bongiovi's acting debut. The film became available on March 28 and the trailer can be seen on YouTube.
“Jake is just bringing a level of acting that not only feels authentic and real but it feels like he's been doing this a long time and he's only (21) years old,” said Tucker in a hype reel.
Bongiovi's character sings in the movie, but it's not known if the voice heard is actually his. A request for clarification to movie reps was not replied to before press time.
The upcoming “Sweethearts,” a romantic comedy starring Kiernan Shipka and Nico Hiraga, will also include Bongiovi in the cast. The Picturestar and New Line Cinema feature wrapped up shooting in August. Jordan Weiss, creator of Hulu's “Dollface,” is the director.
Dad Bon Jovi appeared in several films and TV shows in the '90s and aughts, including “Moonlight and Valentino,” “U-571” and multiple episodes of “Ally McBeal.”
