A-Rod strikes out on healthy doughnut deal on 'Shark Tank'
Alex Rodriguez swam with the sharks on Shark Tank Sunday night — and he got bit. Not literally, obviously, but figuratively. A husband-and-wife team of entrepreneurs was looking to sell a portion of their business The Dough Bar, a company that sells healthy, protein-packed doughnuts.
Barbara was the first to make an offer. She offered $300,000 for 30% of the company. Next was Lori, who offered $300,000 for just 20%. Then came A-Rod, who asked if Lori would go in with him for $400,000 for 30%. Lori agreed, but Barbara wasn’t going down without a fight.
Barbara offered to reduce her equity to 25%. Lori said she and A-Rod would also reduce their equity, but he wasn’t having it. He said his number was 30% and it was non-negotiable. After a brief discussion, the husband-and-wife team asked if Barbara would reduce her stake to 20% for $300,000. That was the end for A-Rod and Lori.
“Yeah, I will, just to beat them out of the box. Happy to do it,” Barbara said.
Shark Tank airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on ABC. Watch clips and full episodes of Shark Tank free on Yahoo View.
