Roddy Ricch and the Weeknd lead American Music Awards nominations

Roddy Ricch and the Weeknd are feeling the blinding lights, after the two tied for the most nominations at the 2020 American Music Awards. Dua Lipa announced the nominees via Good Morning America on Monday. The awards ceremony will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. EST/PST on ABC.

The two artists lead the pack with eight nominations. Ricch's debut studio album Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial is up for Favorite Album - Rap/Hip-Hop, while his breakout hit "The Box" has him vying for Favorite Song - Pop/Rock against the Weeknd's "Blinding Lights."

The two are also both nominated for Artist of the Year, as is Justin Bieber, Post Malone, and Taylor Swift. Following Ricch and the Weeknd with the most nods is Megan Thee Stallion with five, while Bad Bunny, DaBaby, Doja Cat, Bieber, Lady Gaga, and Swift are tied with four each.

Swift has the most AMA wins of all time, with 29, and she could break her own record if she wins in any of the four categories she's nominated in.

This year, the AMAs are also expanding their categories to reflect the rising popularity and crossover success of Latin, R&B, and hip-hop genres. The new categories include Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Female Artist (Rap/Hip-Hop); and Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Female, Favorite Album and Favorite Song (Latin).

The fan-selected awards show has now opened voting for all categories.
