Rogue One Will Be a ‘Different Film’ After Andor Season 2, Says Diego Luna
Diego Luna says that Andor Season 2 will turn Rogue One: A Star Wars Story into a “different film.”
Andor Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2025. The new season of the Disney+ Star Wars series will lead directly into the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was released in United States theaters in 2016.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Luna explained how Andor Season 2 will create a different viewing experience for fans of Rogue One.
What did Diego Luna say about Andor Season 2?
“I think people watching Rogue One, after watching Season 2, are going to see a different film,” he said. “Everything will be signified differently knowing what had to happen for K-2 to be there. It’s going to make you witness the journey of Rogue One in a different way, I think. And not just with K-2, but with many other characters. I think it’ll be really cool.”
Luna also spoke about how K-2, the droid voiced by Alan Tudyk, plays a part in the new seasons of Andor.
“It was delicious to get to work with Alan again and be on the same set with him. It just helps fulfill the full circle…You’re going to see why K-2 is so important in Rogue One, and how does he get to be such an important character for the Rebellion,” he said.
Andor stars Luna as Cassian Andor, Kyle Soller as Syril Karn, Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen, Stellan Skarsg?rd as Luthen Rael, Fiona Shaw as Maarva Andor, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Denise Gough as Dedra Meero, and Faye Marsay as Vel Sartha. Tony Gilroy, Dan Gilroy, Beau Willimon, and Tom Bissell all serve as writers for Andor Season 2.
Andor Season 1 and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story are both currently streaming on Disney+.
