Roma Downey Developing ‘The Baxter Family’ Faith-Based Novel Series For TV

EXCLUSIVE: Roma Downey and LightWorkers Media, the faith and family division of MGM, have acquired rights to New York Times bestselling author Karen Kingsbury’s The Baxter Family novel series for television.

Redemption, tells the story of how John and Elizabeth Baxter, and their six adult children, come together over love, loss, laughter, and life in an epic drama that proves the strength of faith and family. The book series has sold mroe than 20 million copies worldwide.

LightWorkers Media, launched in 2011 by Downey and her husband Mark Burnett, is now a division of MGM, whose TV operation is run by Burnett. The company was behind the Emmy-nominated The Bible miniseries; A.D., a sequel to The Bible series for NBC; The Women Of The Bible for Lifetime; The Dovekeepers for CBS; Answered Prayers for TLC; and feature films Little Boy for Open Road and Woodlawn for Pure Flix.
