Ron Carlivati Submitted These Three DAYS Episodes to Win the WGA Award
Ron Carlivati, head writer, Days of our Lives, has once again shown he has the “write” stuff. For the fourth year in a row, Salem’s top scribe has led the show’s team to victory at the 2024 Writers Guild of America Awards. The honors were handed out in dual ceremonies on Sunday night In Los Angeles and in New York City.
And the WGA Award Goes To…
While Carlivati was in LA, specifically, at the show’s studios in Burbank, to celebrate DAYS’s 15,000th episode taping last Thursday, he was back in the Big Apple by Sunday evening for the festivities.
Shows submit video episodes for the Daytime Emmys, however, for the Writers Guild Awards, soaps send in the actual scripts for judging. Soap Hub has the scoop on which three episodes won DAYS the award.
First up, there was an episode from last August that honored Suzanne Rogers’ 50 years on DAYS as Maggie. Also, Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Xander (Paul Telfer) came to blows while Kate (Lauren Koslow) made a shocking discovery. Meanwhile, Shawn (Brandon Beemer) struggled in the wake of Victor’s (John Aniston) death.
DAYS also submitted an episode from early September in which Victor’s loved ones gathered for his funeral/memorial service. A grieving Maggie pushed Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) to tell Xander the truth. Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) tried to reassure Kate while Xander came to blows again — this time with Sonny (Zach Tinker).
The third and final script DAYS submitted for judging was the episode that streamed the day after the second submission. John (Drake Hogestyn) uncovered a secret about a mystery man (AKA Timothy Robicheaux, played by Dick Van Dyke). Meanwhile, Sarah went into labor, and also, an unexpected visitor (Vivian — played by Louise Sorel) rocked Salem!
The show’s team, led by Ron Carlivati, includes Ryan Quan (Creative Consultant), and writers Sonja Alar, Jazmen Darnell Brown, Joanna Cohen, Carolyn Culliton, Richard Culliton, Cheryl Davis, Kirk Doering, Christopher Dunn, Jamey Giddens, David Kreizman, Henry Newman, Dave Ryan, and Katherine D. Schock. DAYS was victorious over General Hospital, the category’s other nominee. Soap Hub congratulates all the winners and nominees.
