Ron Howard on ‘Arrested Development’ Season 5: It’s ‘definitely in the Incubator’
Ron Howard wears a lot of hats — both literally and figuratively — but one of his most beloved roles is as the excellent narrator in Arrested Development, a show in which he occasionally even plays himself.
The prolific director recently stopped by Yahoo to discuss any developments in the cult show. He had this to say: “Season 5 of Arrested Development is definitely in the incubator. [Creator] Mitch Hurwitz is working on scripts, developing stories, and I think everyone’s desire is to do it. Unfortunately, the cast has become so supersonic that it’s a little hard to get everyone together, and that’s what we’re working on now.”
It’s been an ongoing tease for Arrested Development fans. Earlier this year, Tony Hale, who plays Buster Bluth on the show, told us that he’s equally in the dark about the show’s potential return — and finds out news just like we do, on the Internet: “I will read it online and be like, ‘What? That’s exciting!’ or “Aw, thought it was happening,’” so I have no clue.”
Despite his own uncertainty, Hale said he’s totally on board for Season 5, if only to tie up some loose ends: “Selfishly, I want it to happen because I’m curious what happened to sweet baby Buster after his girlfriend Liza Minnelli supposedly, allegedly got murdered. That’s a lot. So, I’d like to see where that story goes.”
