Campbell — who recently alluded to her Rookie gig as a guest on Vampire Diaries vet Kayla Ewell’s Directionally Challenged podcast — will first appear in the Season 6 premiere, airing Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 9/8c (leading out of Will Trent‘s sophomore premiere).
In said season opener, in the aftermath of the assaults they endured in the Season 5 finale, the team must try to understand why they were targeted and if there is a bigger plan in place. Nolan (played by Nathan Fillion), meanwhile, must survive his last shift before his wedding to Bailey (Jenna Dewan).
The Rookie: 5 Things We Want in Season 6
To be sure, the officers and detectives at Mid-Wilshire Division have had a lot to process. The Season 5 finale alone revolved around a band of masked marauders who landed in the LAPD’s crosshairs after shooting Officer Thorsen in the back. After the LAPD’s prime suspect wound up choosing suicide by cop, Nolan wondered how that man could have had the money or means to recruit elite mercs to attack Nolan and Bailey at home and near-kidnap Nyla and James’ daughter. The scene then cut to a well-dressed passenger (played by Orphan Black‘s Kristian Bruun) in an Escalade, as he laughed at the LAPD’s all-out response to an event that is “away from our target.”
“And by the time they realize the damage we’ve done,” he gloated, “we’ll be long gone.”
Elsewhere in that finale, a very expectant Angela and Wes worked to solve a major puzzle clue at the hospital before welcoming a baby girl, and Thorsen was not long out of surgery when a Code Blue sounded and doctors/nurses raced to his room. (But if you follow the cast’s socials or have seen the Season 6 key art, Thorsen’s fate has already been revealed.)
In addition to playing The Originals‘ Davina and two different roles across two seasons of Tell Me a Story, Campbell’s TV credits include Famous in Love, Marvel’s Runaways and the Disney TV-movies Starstruck and Prom.
