‘Room’ Star Jacob Tremblay on Meeting Leonardo DiCaprio
The Screen Actors Guild Awards were on Jan. 30, and in attendance were Room star Jacob Tremblay and The Revenant lead Leonardo DiCaprio. Making his first-ever appearance on Ellen, Tremblay, who’s 9, told the story about meeting DiCaprio to the daytime host. “Everyone was standing up to cheer for someone,” said Tremblay. “I checked to see how many people were standing up. And I noticed Leonardo DiCaprio right in the chair behind us.”
There was a long line to meet DiCaprio, but Tremblay figured he had an advantage that allowed him to circumvent the wait. “I’m a kid — I can skip it,” explained Tremblay with a mischievous grin. He proceeded to introduce himself to DiCaprio, and the two wished each other luck. The older of the actors ended up being the one who went home with the hardware, as DiCaprio won Best Actor for his performance in The Revenant. But Tremblay was quick to take credit for DiCaprio’s success, saying, “He won right? But I didn’t win. So if you want to win, you just have to come up to me.”
