Fitchburg singer Lavender Darcangelo is returning to the NBC stage “America’s Got Talent” Tuesday and Wednesday to compete in the show’s first semifinal round.

In July, the 28-year-old Darcangelo, who is blind and autistic, won over judge Heidi Klum with her audition performance of “Out Here On My Own” by Irene Cara. Klum gave Darcangelo the “golden buzzer,” a decision that each judge can make once per season to send a contestant to the next round of the competition without the other judges’ approval.

Darcangelo will perform during the Tuesday episode, which will be broadcast live starting at 8 p.m. During that episode, 11 contestants will perform in total, and viewers will be able to vote for the contestant whose performance they thought was best.

In the Wednesday episode, also starting at 8 p.m., the results of that vote will be revealed live. The two contestants with the most votes will move on to the show’s final round.

Darcangelo’s appearance on “America’s Got Talent” is only the latest installment in her story as a musician. She met her adoptive father, Wil Darcangelo, when she was a student in his after-school music program at Fitchburg High School, and in 2019, she briefly gained national attention when a video of her performing “Part Of Your World” from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” went viral on Twitter.
