Rudy Giuliani tells Tucker Carlson what happened during FBI raid in bizarre interview
Rudy Giuliani appeared Thursday on Tucker Carlson Tonight for his first TV interview since his home and office were raided by the FBI early Wednesday morning. Giuliani is being investigated for possibly violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act involving his dealings with Ukraine.
Giuliani went off on bizarre tangents, one involving President Biden’s son Hunter, who is himself the subject of a Department of Justice investigation. Giuliani has long claimed to have incriminating hard drives supposedly belonging to the younger Biden, which he says he offered to the FBI agents as they were gathering various electronic devices, but he says they refused. Giuliani went on to say that the agents took his word for it that the hard drives belonged to Hunter Biden, when for all the agents knew the devices could have belonged to former President Donald Trump or Vladimir Putin.
Giuliani also lamented the fact that the warrant had to be served in the first place, saying that he had no intention of destroying any evidence.
“I’ve known about this for two years, Tucker. I could have destroyed the evidence years — a year — I didn’t destroy the evidence because the evidence is exculpatory,” Giuliani said. “It proves that the president and I, all of us, are innocent. They’re the ones who are committing — it’s like projection. They’re committing the crimes.”
Giuliani went on to attack the Justice Department under President Biden, but the fact is that investigators tried to get warrants while President Trump was still in office, but senior Trump-appointed officials at the DOJ blocked them. To get any warrant against a lawyer is already a high bar, especially when the lawyer in question used work on behalf of the president. Investigators must convince a judge that a crime had been committed, and that the warrant will provide further proof. But Giuliani claims the warrant was illegal.
“The reality is that that warrant is completely illegal,” Giuliani said. “The only way you can get a search warrant is if you can show that there’s some evidence that the person is going to destroy the evidence. Or is going to run away with the evidence. Well, I’ve had it for two years and I haven’t destroyed it. And they also got it from the iCloud.”
Tucker Carlson Tonightairs weeknights at 8 p.m. on Fox News Channel.
