Rumer Willis is in a new chapter of her life.

The 35-year-old shared that she and Derek Richard Thomas have split over a year after welcoming their daughter Louetta, 15 months.

"I am single momming it and coparenting," Rumer wrote on her Instagram Stories Aug. 22. "I'm so grateful for Lou. She is the best thing in my life and I'm forever grateful I was able to have the time in that relationship for her to come into my life."

The former couple debuted their relationship in November 2022 when the House Bunny actress shared the news on Instagram. In December of that year, she announced the pregnancy and four months later, they welcomed their baby.

Their split comes two months after the Vista Kicks frontman gushed over being a dad and his relationship with Rumer.

"Thank you for changing my life and transforming me into a better person," he wrote on Instagram in June. "Being your father is the greatest joy of my life. It's an honor to be your guide as you teach me how to live. Thank you for existing and thank you to your mother for being my loving partner on this journey of parenthood."

And Rumer—the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore—also previously reflected on their relationship and how becoming parents changed the dynamic.

"There's so much that goes on,” she told E! News in May. “Your hormones, everything's going crazy—people say that if you can make it through the first year together, that's the biggest milestone. Being in a relationship while having a kid, there's a level of depth and intimacy and trust that you have to go to with someone."

She also knows that caring for a little one often takes a village.

"This has been such an experience from the moment I got pregnant til now," Rumer explained to E! in November. "It's been such an exercise in surrender and self-trust. Everyone will give you advice—grandparents, friends, sisters, doctors—and the truth is you really have to trust yourself."

And although she’s been endlessly inspired by Demi, she continues to find her own footing when it comes to being a mom.

"We're in such a different time, there's just so much more information," she explained. "My mom will be like, 'You should do this with her,' and I'll say, 'Actually, based on what I've been reading, you don't do that anymore.'"

"I think as parents you want to give your kids whatever you didn't have,” she continued. “But the beauty in what I'm learning is, she might not need what I didn't get, because she's her own person."
