Rumer Willis reveals Father’s Day plans with dad Bruce amid his dementia battle
Rumer Willis is ready to celebrate Father’s Day with her dad Bruce Willis.
The 35-year-old actress and singer exclusively told The Post how her family plans to honor the “Die Hard” actor, 69, this weekend as he continues to battle dementia.
“I’m sure we’ll go over there,” Rumer said. “Father’s Day is such a special one for me. And I feel like since we were little kids, you know, we’ve always done special things for our parents. Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.”
She continued: “One of the things I love most about my family is how much we all come together to celebrate on Mother’s Day. All the girls got together at my mom’s house, and I’m sure we’ll do something similar for Father’s Day.”
Rumer is the eldest daughter of Bruce and Demi Moore. She has two sisters, Scout, 32, and Tallulah, 30, as well as two half sisters, Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, who are Bruce’s daughters with his wife Emma Heming Willis.
In March 2022, the blended family released a joint statement informing the world that Bruce was retiring from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia.
In February 2023, they’d go on to reveal that his condition had worsened and that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
“Bruce has always found joy in life — and has helped everyone he knows to do the same,” the family said in a statement at the time. “It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us.”
The “Pulp Fiction” actor has stepped away from the public eye due to his health battle, but Rumer told The Post that her dad is “doing great.”
She also dished on what Bruce is like as a grandfather.
“What’s lovely is my dad’s connection with my daughter is so beautiful and wonderful, and I feel so grateful for it,” she shared.
Rumer became a parent last year when she and her partner, singer Derek Richard Thomas, welcomed their daughter Louetta.
The “Empire” actress told The Post that her loved ones cannot get enough of her 1-year-old daughter.
“Louetta has such a fan club. I’ll have friends or family members literally call me and schedule playdates with her,” Rumer said. “No to come over and hang out with me, but just because they wanna go and see her, which I think is adorable and such a testament to her personality.”
Rumer also gushed over Demi’s bond with Louetta.
“My mom just loves her so deeply, and to see her as a grandma is so cute. They have such a special connection and my mom absolutely spoiled her,” she said.
Since Bruce was diagnosed with dementia, the Willis family has rallied around the iconic actor and shared occasional updates on his health.
Earlier this year, Demi, 61, said on Good Morning America that, “given the givens,” her ex-husband is “doing very well.”
“What I’ll say is what I say to my children, which is it’s important to just meet them where they’re at and not hold onto what isn’t,” Demi added. “Because there’s great beauty and sweetness and loving and joy out of that.”
