The Russo Family Mentors a New Generation in ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ Trailer
Disney has released the trailer for its upcoming Wizards of Waverly Place sequel, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
The trailer kicks off when Selena Gomez’s Alex Russo, the rule-bending middle child of the original series, brings sequel series lead Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to meet her new wizarding teacher, Alex’s older brother Justin Russo (David Henrie). Justin pushes back against his sister.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place follows Justin as an adult, as he’s chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his wife and two sons. When Alex shows up on his doorstep with Billie, he “realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities — and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World,” according to the logline.
The trailer introduces the Disney show’s lead Billie through Alex’s description, eerily reminiscent of Alex in her younger days. “Billie is a powerful wizard, but she’s rebellious and stubborn,” Alex tells Justin, before dropping in a critical piece of information — that the fate of the world is in the young wizard’s hands.
“Well, technically, it’s in your hands,” Alex says in the trailer. Gomez, an executive producer on the project alongside Henrie, is only expected to appear in the first episode at this point.
Throughout the trailer, Henrie’s Justin mentors Billie as she trains to be a wizard, even offering some sage advice about growing pains. “In our family, you don’t get kicked out for making a mistake,” he tells the young wizard.
Last month, Disney offered a first look at the sequel series, letting original fans see Gomez and Henrie head back to Waverly Place.
lkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora and Mimi Gianopulos join Henrie and Brown as the series main cast.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place premieres with two episodes on Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. eastern time on Disney Channel. The first nine episodes of the series will be available to stream on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the following day.
