  • Ryan Dorsey and Nickayla Rivera moved in together to raise Josey after Naya Rivera passed away during a boating trip.

  • According to sources, there are days when Ryan struggles, and living with Nickayla has been a major help during these times.

Following Naya Rivera’s tragic death, her sister and ex-husband moved in together to help raise her 5-year-old son, Josey.

From the get-go, it was clear that Nickayla Rivera and Ryan Dorsey moved in together to take care of Josey, but the internet started spreading rumors that they were dating. That’s simply not true, and Nickayla and Ryan both addressed it in previous statements. At the time, Nickayla posted, “Showing up for my nephew, even though I can’t show up for myself. I’m not concerned with the ways things look because no one can see each agonizing moment we all endure.” In a video, Ryan opened up and said that Josey asked for Nickayla to live with them and described how everyone being around each other is helping them heal.

Now, a People source shared that there are days when Ryan “very much struggles,” which is completely understandable. They added, “It helps him that he’s not alone with Josey. He’s very grateful for her.” The insider also added that Ryan wants Josey to have a mother figure around and “Ryan knows that Josey will thrive with her around” because she loves her nephew so much.

When Naya passed this summer, Ryan shared his heartbreak on Instagram and posted:

“Life is all about good times and bad times but with Josey it makes the bad a little less so because a part of you will always be with us. He’ll never forget where he came from. We miss you. We will always love you. Love you Meep.”
