Ryan Reynolds Makes Bold Claim About Casting Taylor Swift in New Movie
Ryan Reynolds can't get away from rumors suggesting Taylor Swift would be making a cameo in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, so now, he's taking the time to entertain the thought for himself.
It all came about during his recent appearance on The Tonight Show ahead of the movie's release on Friday. Reynolds was eager to tell host Jimmy Fallon about the making of the film and how it was one of the best filming experiences he's ever had.
Partway through the duo's conversation, the 47-year-old actor teased several "surprises" and appearances from other big-name stars that he doesn't know how producers have been "able to keep a secret, given the internet and all this stuff, but somehow," he said, "it [the full cast list] hasn't come out."
While hinting at the movie's many "surprise" celebrity cast members, the host playfully interjected by bringing up the award-winning actor's close friend, mumbling "Taylor Swift" several times over.
The father of four was forced to address the ongoing rumors that the international pop superstar was secretly cast in the film. "I wish," he let out. "Taylor, you know, if I ever stop [acting], she'd make a good Deadpool."
Reynolds explained he believes the "Fortnight" songstress could be cut out for the gig because "She's funny, funny," a key trait to have if you're trying to play a fictional superhero known in part for their humor.
"Funny," Reynolds asserted one last time.
While it seems that Swift won't be making a surprise appearance in this film, Reynolds promised several other beloved stars would be.
He didn't want to describe the minor appearances as "cameos" because, in his words, they have "beginnings, middles and ends" to their character arcs, as well as a reason for their character to be there, which viewers will begin to understand as the story unfolds.
Deadpool & Wolverine has already been confirmed to star Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, and Jennifer Garner, among others, and it will hit theaters on Friday, July 26.
