Ryan Reynolds Shares Sweet Tribute to Chris Evans Following His “Deadpool & Wolverine” Cameo: 'The Absolute Best'

Ryan Reynolds is continuing to shout-out many of the actors who made surprise appearances in Deadpool & Wolverine.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, Reynolds, 47, shared a number of photos of Chris Evans on the smash-hit superhero movie's set to Instagram and thanked Evans, 43, for participating in the film in what amounted to his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2019's Avengers: Endgame.

"Some of the greatest moments I’ve ever experienced in a theater were authored by this guy. Some of the hardest laughing I’ve ever done came from listening to Chris tell a story — about anything," Reynolds wrote in a caption to his post. "And he got me again this year. Chris is one of those movie stars who’s actually better than you hope he is. And people hold him to a crazy high standard. He‘s just the absolute best."

Evans is best known for portraying Steve Rogers / Captain America in the MCU, but prior to taking on that role, he had a turn as the Fantastic Four's Johnny Storm in two movies made by 20th Century Fox. Evans reprised that role in the movie, joining other actors who appeared in 20th Century Fox's Marvel movies like Jennifer Garner, Wesley Snipes and Dafne Keen in Deadpool & Wolverine, which functioned as a send-off of sorts to that studio after Disney purchased it in 2019.

"Part of the movie’s theme is saying goodbye… And one of the gifts of working on the film is that we got to say goodbye on different terms," Reynolds continued in his caption. "Seeing Johnny Storm (if only for a short while) was like seeing someone you miss come back from the dead in a dream. Way too brief and too lovely to be real. Goodbyes are hard. It was hard saying goodbye to Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm. But at least we got to actually say it this time."

"On the other hand, it wouldn’t have been necessary if he hadn’t run his fat-ass mouth around Cassandra," he added, reminding his followers of Deadpool & Wolverine's amusing post-credits scene and Evans' character's gruesome death in the film. "Or if she hadn’t zip-zapped his skin, leaving his organs to splash crudely onto the ground, while the soil greedily drank his blood. It was horrible."

"Jonathan Lowell Spencer Storm: We love you. Wherever you are, I’m sure you’re thriving. #FlameOff ??," Reynolds finished in his caption.

Two weeks after Deadpool & Wolverine released in theaters, the movie remains one of the year's highest-grossing films — second to only Pixar's Inside Out 2, according to Box Office Mojo.
