Ryan Reynolds wrote an ‘iconic’ scene in Blake Lively’s new movie ‘It Ends With Us’
Couple goals.
Blake Lively revealed that her husband, Ryan Reynolds, played a part in making her new movie “It Ends With Us,” based on Colleen Hoover’s beloved romance novel.
“The iconic rooftop scene, my husband actually wrote it. Nobody knows that, but you now,” the 36-year-old actress told “E! News” at the film’s premiere in New York City Tuesday night.
The scene that Reynolds, 47, wrote involves Lively’s character, Lily Bloom, meeting the man who becomes her love interest, Justin Baldoni’s Ryle Kincaid, for the first time.
Lively said it’s “thrilling” that the couple get to promote their respective new movies, “It Ends With Us” and “Deadpool & Wolverine,” at the same time.
“We help each other,” she told “E! News.” “He works on everything I do. I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his.”
Lively and Reynolds met on the set of the 2011 movie “Green Lantern.” They got married in September 2012 and have four children together.
In a recent interview with People, Lively revealed the weekly romantic gesture that Reynolds made when they started dating.
“When my husband and I first got together, he would send me a bouquet of flowers every week, but he would always send a card and it would just be a sentence of something that had happened that week. Something funny or emotional that one of us said,” she shared.
“It was just a little quote of the week,” the actress added. “It was such a beautiful, romantic thing. Now we have 4,000 children!”
Lively’s new movie, out August 9, follows the love story between Lily and Ryle that gets complicated by the return of Lily’s first love, Brandon Sklenar’s Atlas Corrigan.
In an interview with “Today,” Lively revealed that she borrowed clothes from both Reynolds and her pal Gigi Hadid for the film.
“Those are my real-life boots. A lot of it’s my real-life clothes or my husband’s clothes or my girlfriend Gigi’s clothes,” she said. “I was borrowing some.”
She added that she’s wearing Hadid’s “stuff all over” the movie.
“It’s like a wedding, like, something old, something borrowed, something blue or something new,” the “Gossip Girl” alum said.
Lively was joined by her husband and his “Deadpool & Wolverine” co-star Hugh Jackman at the “It Ends With Us” premiere.
She showed similar support for Reynolds and Jackman, 55, at their new Marvel movie’s premiere in NYC on July 22.
Lively brought Hadid, 29, with her to the “Deadpool & Wolverine” red-carpet event. They wore color-coordinated outfits, with Lively rocking a red Atelier Versace catsuit and Hadid sporting a yellow Miu Miu leather top and belted skirt.
At the premiere, Reynolds gushed over having his wife’s support, calling her “amazing” and “so smart” in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight.”
“Everything I do is in lockstep with her and now she just takes every step with me — sometimes the scary steps, sometimes the ones that are, more often than not, aimed right at danger,” Reynolds said.
“I am super grateful to her,” he added. “She’s just so smart and so funny and [she] like really, really helped in like every aspect of this movie.”
