Ryan Seacrest Could Be Taking *Another* of Pat Sajak’s Jobs After Wheel of Fortune Replacement

Pat Sajak will pass the torch — or wheel — to Ryan Seacrest a second time. In June 2024, Sajak ended his four-decade-long run as host of Wheel of Fortune. Seacrest is set to take over the role as host alongside Vanna White, with his first episode airing in September 2024. In addition to hosting, Seacrest will also serve as a consulting producer.

While Sajak is officially retired as the host of Wheel of Fortune, he isn’t completely done with the game show as he’ll return be back for his final season of the spinoff, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, in October 2024.  The show will conclude Sajak’s run as host of the Wheel of Fortune franchie. Though Sajak’s beloved job is coming to an end, there’s speculation about who will follow in his footsteps for Celebrity Wheel of Fortune as well. It’s rumored that Seacrest will take over this hosting duty, too. “Once Pat finishes this last season, we’re told Ryan will take over for the following season. So, this fall will mark Pat’s truly final appearance on any Wheel of Fortune show,” TMZ reported in July 2024.

In Sajak’s emotional farewell episode which aired on June 7, he said to viewers, “The time has come to say goodbye. I have a few thanks and acknowledgments before I go, and I want to start with all of you watching out there. It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade, and I’ve always felt that the privilege came with a responsibility to keep this daily half-hour a safe place for family fun, no social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing, I hope, just a game.”

Sajak continued, “But gradually it became more than that, a place where kids learned their letters, where people from other countries honed their English skills, where families came together along with friends and neighbors and entire generations. What an honor to have played even a small part in all that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune is set to return to ABC on October 7 at 8 p.m. ET and PT / 7 p.m. CT.
