Sabrina Carpenter Praises Taylor Swift for Her Support: ‘She’s Graceful, She’s Gracious’
Sabrina Carpenter appeared on CBS News Sunday Morning over the weekend and took the opportunity to share what it’s been like to have the backing of someone like Taylor Swift. Carpenter, who was an opening act on Swift’s Eras Tour earlier this year, said the singer has been very supportive of her career.
“You just watch her, like, walk in a room and it’s very easy to understand that she’s so composed, she’s graceful, she’s gracious,” Carpenter told CBS. She added that Swift has never given her specific advice, but instead has modeled what fame should look like.

“I wouldn’t say it’s, like, a verbal thing as much as just, like, she’s very supportive of me and knows who I am as a person and is very supportive of that,” Carpenter said. “So I’m grateful for that. I think, again, if we’re talking about how to deal with it all, I think everyone has such an individual, unique experience that there’s no kind of blanket statement or advice on how to not let it rattle you. You just kind of have to exist and figure out what you can handle and what you don’t want to deal with.”
She added, “You just kind of figure it out along the way. I know that sounds a little vague but I really do think that you find the people that you surround yourself with that make you feel safe and go from there.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Carpenter spoke about her current Short n’ Sweet tour, writing her own music, and misconceptions about her. “I think a misperception is that I don’t write my music,” she noted. “I think a lot of people think because I have, you know, a producer and co-writers that I love, that I’m sitting in the room on my phone, not writing songs.”
She also spoke about casting her boyfriend Barry Keoghan in her music video for “Please Please Please.” “I was like, ‘Who’s the greatest actor that I can find for this music video?'” she recalled. “And he was next to me in a chair. And he was so excited about it, and he likes the song, which is great, he’s a fan of the song. He does like my music a lot, yeah.”
Last week, Carpenter appeared on The Tonight Show to perform her hit single, “Espresso.” Appearing with a live band and a group of back-up singers, Carpenter gave the performance a sultry, vintage club vibe.
