Remember when Sabrina Carpenter started doing her (often NSFW) “Nonsense” outros back in 2022 during her Emails I Can't Send Tour? Since then, fans have looked forward to the adlibbed moment in Carpenter's every performance — whether it was an award show or a concert. However, don't expect to get one if you are going to one of her Short n' Sweet Tour stops because she's officially retired them.

During the very first stop of the Short n' Sweet Tour in Columbus, OH, Carpenter surprised fans when it came time to perform the custom outro for the song. With anticipation as high as her heels, her mic cut, and Carpenter was ushered off the stage as a message appeared on the screen: “We apologize for the interruption of our program due to technical difficulties.” (You can see the video here.)

Of course, Carpenter's decision to get rid of the “Nonsense” outros is dividing fans — while some think it's a necessary step as she goes from her Emails I Can't Send era into her Short n' Sweet era, others are mourning the loss.

“Cutting the best part of the show? That’s like taking the punchline out of a joke. Fans live for those outros, and now it’s just ‘Nonsense’ without the spice. Let’s hope this isn’t a permanent change, because that’s what makes her shows unforgettable!” someone commented on X. “She’s growing as an artist no need for her to cling onto the same trick and she has new songs to perform now,” someone else argued.

Speaking to Teen Vogue at our annual summit in L.A. back in 2022, Carpenter got candid about the “Nonsense” outros and how much work went into them, no matter if they were improvised at the moment or prepped a little bit beforehand. “I was excited to find a way to switch up every single show and have it be slightly different, and then I screwed myself over because I'll be 90 rewriting this outro,” Carpenter admitted at the time.

Of course, now that the outros are gone, Carpenter seems to have found another way to switch things up during her concerts, introducing a brand-new tradition. During her Short n’ Sweet Tour, Carpenter is actually performing a surprise cover, which will be different at every stop. How are the songs chosen? With a Spin The Bottle game on stage, of course! During her first stop in Columbus, the star performed a rendition of “Mamma Mia” by ABBA.

We might not have new “Nonsense” outros to look forward to, but there are 30+ stops (and counting) on the Short n’ Sweet Tour, so that's a lot of covers coming our way!
