Sabrina Carpenter got fancy in glittery pointed-toe pumps while performing a medley of her hits at the 2024 MTV VMAs in New York City on Wednesday night.
Taking to the stage for live renditions of some her songs “Please Please Please,” “Taste” and “Espresso,” the singer donned a glamorous pair of pointed-toe pumps that were characterized by a distinguished pointed construction in the upper.
Beads of glitter were dispersed throughout the shoe, adding to its eye-catching appeal, with the set being rounded out by a singular strap in the mid-foot, and a slim heel measuring roughly 3-to-4 inches in height. The dainty heel were worlds apart from the chunky Giuseppe Zanotti platform sandals she wore on the red carpet.
Pointed-toe pumps are lauded as a preferred shoe by many notable names in the fashion industry for red carpets and formal occasions. Various designers including Burberry and Valentino offer pointed-toe models regularly as a part of their catalog.
In 2024, the style started on an upward swing, with stylists recommending pointed shoe styles to achieve simple and classic looks for the latter part of summer and fall. The model is regarded for its versatile nature and ability to work with a wide range of outfits.
Bold shoe looks have quickly become a part of Carpenter’s on-stage style. For example, she opened Taylor Swift’s “Eras” world tour in Brazil this past November in a daring pair of the Spice boots from Naked Wolfe. Boasting a notable platform design in the front region and heel, the shoes featured stretchy black vegan uppers with closed toes, set atop thick platform soles and 5.1-inch block heels coated in light-catching black crystals.
The artist was seen in a similar pair of platform boots during a Melbourne date of the Eras tour earlier this year that included a platform base measuring roughly 2 inches, and a sparkly design that shimmered as she performed. The shoes were completed by a chunky block heel that clocked in-between 3-to-4 inches in height.
The 2024 VMAs are being held at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York City. The show is being hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, and will honor the best music videos, artists and songs released between June 22, 2023 and June 20, 2024. Taylor Swift has the most nominations of the evening with a total of twelve, and Katy Perry will be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
