Sabrina Elba Relaxes in Black Braided Sandal Shoe at Naomi Campbell’s A Midsummer Night Event
More from Footwear News
With temperatures rising, celebrities are increasingly reaching for breathable shoes. Sabrina Elba was out on the town in London on Thursday and opted for a pair of sandals.
While out for the evening, she attended Naomi Campbell’s A Midsummer Night event at NYX Mayfair. Campbell, who is currently promoting her first-of-its-kind one-woman exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), co-hosted the bash with former British Vogue top editor Edward Enninful. Attendees included Emma Weymouth, Juergen Teller, Jodie Turner-Smith and Munroe Bergdorf.
But that wasn’t her only outing. Also on Thursday, she attended a dinner for the brands Tove and Merit which celebrated the launch of their collaborative bag. Names such as Naomi Ackie and Jenna Coleman also were at that event.
For both events, Elba wore a black stretch-jersey maxi dress from Tove’s Resort 2024 collection. She paired it with silver bracelets, a ring and gold earrings. For shoes, she went simple.
Elba’s footwear was a flat sandal. The black shoes feature braided straps that comprise the upper. On each foot, one strap secures the big toe while another wraps across the middle of the foot. There also appears to be straps around the back of the foot as well.
Strappy sandals like this have long been available in a variety of forms. Some are peep-toe, others include toe straps like this, and even more are practically fully open — most brands that produce sandals offer a version.
Toe-strap sandals in both heeled and flat iterations have been popular recently. Last month, Rihanna wore a pair from Giuseppe Zanotti while in Shanghai. Those were the company’s Symonne heels and were a stiletto style.
