Sacha Baron Cohen's cringeworthy meeting with O.J. Simpson

On the final episode of Who Is America?, Sacha Baron Cohen set his sights on O.J. Simpson. Simpson was charged in 1994 with murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, but was found not guilty the following year.

Cohen put the screws to Simpson by harping on the murder accusations while portraying one of his recurring characters, Gio Monaldo.

Cohen confided in Simpson that they are more alike than different. Cohen said, “We both, uh, how you say, ‘lady killers.'” The statement made Simpson uncomfortable, so Cohen pushed forward saying, “It’s not what it sounds like. In Italian, it translates to, uh, somebody who, uh, murders women.” Simpson immediately denied the accusation, saying, “No, I didn’t kill nobody.”

The whole bit appeared to be filmed without Simpson’s knowledge. The clip ended abruptly, but judging from Simpson’s body language and repeated requests for Cohen to “stop,” it’s safe to assume that at some point it was all too much for Simpson.

Cohen tweeted that this was the last episode “EVER.” The short-lived series was largely well-received by critics and bemoaned by those tricked by Cohen.
