“To Love A Narcissist” explores the thin line between love and deceit, featuring performances by Lyndsey Marshal (“Rome”), Stephen Campbell Moore (“Masters of the Air”), Sule Rimi (“Classified”) alongside Degruttola. The narrative follows Charlotte and Roberto, whose post-marriage relationship navigates from a dating app encounter to a complex dance of manipulation and vulnerability, ultimately questioning the authenticity of modern relationships.
Raffaello’s first feature length drama was the London-set “Transference: A Bipolar Love Story.” “To Love a Narcissist” will be his second feature length drama produced via Contro Vento Films. The film wrapped production in Italy in April.
Frost said: “I am genuinely excited to be involved in ‘To Love a Narcissist’ and to become part of the Contro Vento family whose company ethos and work I have admired for some time. I met Raffaello 15 years ago through a charity cycling trip from London to Paris and briefly featured in his BIFA nominated directorial debut ‘Flim: The Movie’ in 2014. Since then, we have been interested in finding a fitting project to join forces on and I am delighted that this opportunity has now come to fruition. I am looking forward to bringing this story to audiences both here in the U.K. and internationally.”
Degruttola added: “We are thrilled to have formed an official partnership with Sadie – she brings a wealth of experience both as an actor and an established filmmaker in her own right and we are delighted to bring her on board this journey with us. We hope this will be the start of a long working relationship together.”
Contro Vento Films (literal translation: against the wind) is an independent film company with an ethos of hyperrealism, aiming to produce films that cut to the heart of the truth. Their cinematic roots trace back to Italian neorealism of the 1940s, which consciously distanced itself from Hollywood style filmmaking, emphasizing realistic characters and narratives. The genre also explored themes such as moral ambiguity, social inequality and depicted economic hardships with deep sympathy for characters, something that the company hopes to emulate.
