Salehe Bembury Reveals His Next New Balance Sneaker Collaboration
More from Footwear News
Salehe Bembury has responded to leaks of his next New Balance sneaker by posting a sample himself.
The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 530 will be the next release from the two partners, marking the first time Bembury has taken on the early ’90s running sneaker. Highlighter yellow forms the shoe’s mesh base, with a number of shades dispersed throughout the sneaker, including a mustard shaggy suede toe tip and a chartreuse suede heel overlay. For many, the highlight of the collaboration will be the 530’s “N” logo, which takes on Bembury’s signature fingerprint motif.
Bembury has been one of New Balance’s chief collaborators since 2020, and this collaboration brings the most overt appearance yet for the fingerprint, which most famously helps to form the shapes in his growing Crocs catalog. Bembury’s last effort with New Balance was the 1906R “Heat Be Hot” capsule, which featured can’t-miss colorways in a Spider-Man-esque red and blue and a red, yellow and orange gradient with metallic silver accents.
New Balance launched the 530 in 1992 as a performance running sneaker, and it’s still nascent return has been highlighted by Miu Miu’s transformation of the sneaker into a flat for a red-hot collaboration earlier this year. With Bembury’s eye now turned to the 530, chances are a number of other collaborators should be on the way as well.
No further details on the Salehe Bembury x New Balance 530 have been released yet, and it could still be a matter of months before the sneaker releases. Footwear News will keep you abreast of any updates.
