Salehe Bembury Previewed a New Color of His Wild Crocs Duck Boot

Update: Sept. 4, 2024 at 3:20 p.m. ET:

Just a few weeks after previewing his new Crocs duck boot collaboration in a jarring red-and-neon-green look, multi-brand designer Salehe Bembury is back with a more toned-down style — and this one is actually being released to the public.

Taking to Instagram, Bembury shared his new Crocs Cypress creation in a colorway that outdoor footwear enthusiasts hold dear. Presented in brown and green tones, the combination is often nicknamed “Beef and Broccoli,” although there’s no official confirmation that Bembury’s pair will carry this same name.

The latest Salehe Bembury x Crocs Cypress duck boot style features a dark green canvas upper which is triple-stitched to a brown molded bottom. An extra-grippy outsole in gum rubber uses an exaggerated version of Bembury’s signature fingerprint pattern which has been featured on his other work with Crocs.

In addition to previewing the new colorway, Bembury revealed via his Instagram story that the previously seen red-and-green look was a one-off creation for artist Toro y Moi, something Bembury hinted at in the original caption. Bembury also confirmed in an Instagram story that he has “multiple” releases still to come in 2024.

Other work from Bembury on the horizon includes the Crocs Juniper “Tahini”, which will be released tomorrow for $140, a New Balance 530 collaboration and more.

An exact release date for the Salehe Bembury x Crocs Cypress duck boot has not been announced, but readers can expect it to arrive at retail before the end of the year.

What We Originally Reported on August 12

Designer Salehe Bembury is keeping busy just weeks after his partnership with Puma Hoops was confirmed. With the second colorway of his Crocs Juniper sneaker releasing soon in “Tahini,” Bembury has begun teasing another Crocs model — and it’s a contender for his most experimental yet.

Shared Saturday on Instagram by the designer, the Salehe Bembury x Crocs Cypress is part duck boot, part canvas sneaker. There’s a lot going on; up top, there’s a high-cut canvas material which is triple-needle stitched to a foam duck boot bottom.

Below that, an exaggerated spin on Bembury’s signature fingerprint pattern — similar to what is used on the Juniper sneaker — extends up from the rubber outsole. If the combination of shapes and silhouettes wasn’t jarring enough, the shoe was presented in a bright red-and-neon green color palette that is sure to turn heads.

In the post’s caption, Bembury tagged musical artist Toro y Moi, so it’s possible that the Crocs Cypress project could involve the singer or be a custom style. In the past, Bembury has gifted exclusive Crocs Pollex Clogs to artist Aminé.

Beyond this Crocs reveal, Bembury has also been occupied by his latest collaborative output with New Balance. Last week, the designer gave away free pairs of his unreleased New Balance 530 collab in Copenhagen. While there, he also debuted a previously unseen New Balance 991v2 project.

The partnership between Crocs and Bembury began in 2021 and quickly blossomed into something more. In April 2023, Crocs announced it had extended their deal and named Bembury creative director of the Crocs Pollex Pod line. Bembury and Crocs were named the 2023 Collection of the Year at the FN Achievement Awards.

There are currently no further details for this Salehe Bembury x Crocs Cypress shoe, but readers can expect more updates soon. In the meantime, Bembury’s Crocs Juniper “Tahini” sneaker will be released September 5 for $140.
