Sally Hawkins Will Star in New Film From “Talk to Me” Directors
A Talk to Me sequel may be in the works, but directors Danny and Michael Philippou are setting their sights on a different story for their sophomore feature.
Following the success of their debut, the Philippou twins are sticking to their horror roots but taking on an original story with Bring Her Back, a film that will keep its plot details under lock and key for now.
What we do know, however, is that cameras will start rolling this summer with two-time Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins set to star, as per the exclusive from Deadline.
The Philippous are reteaming with the indie studio behind Talk to Me, A24, on Bring Her Back, and the film will be produced by Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton from Causeway Films, who also produced Talk to Me.
It's no mystery why A24 want to stay in business with the Philippous following Talk to Me becoming the studio's highest-grossing horror film domestically, beating out the record previously held by Ari Aster's Hereditary. It secured $48.2 million at the domestic box office and a further $43.8 million internationally for a worldwide total of $92.1 million, a massive feat for a film made on a $4.5 million budget.
For now, Hawkins is the only confirmed cast member on the film that will be co-written and co-directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, who will reunite with their Talk to Me director of photography, Aaron McLisky.
